What HPE does
Hewlett Packard Enterprise supplies direct-liquid-cooled computing systems, especially through HPE Cray supercomputers and high-density ProLiant platforms. In the HPE Cray EX architecture, cold plates remove heat from processors, graphics processing units, and switches; rack manifolds and a coolant distribution unit carry it to facility water. Some cabinets are sealed and fanless, so the liquid system is part of the machine rather than an accessory fitted later.
That gives HPE control over server qualification, networking, rack mechanics, cooling, and support. Warm-water designs can also produce a return stream suitable for heat reuse: the planned Blue Lion system in Germany is specified for water up to 40 degrees Celsius and is intended to extend an existing heat-recovery program. A plan is not the same as measured operating performance, and heat reuse still needs a customer and backup rejection.
Buyers should verify which components are fully liquid cooled, facility-water limits, coolant chemistry, distribution-unit redundancy, pressure drop, quick connections, startup sequence, controls, service access, and the plant equipment outside HPE's delivery.
