What Dell Technologies does
Dell now puts liquid cooling into PowerEdge and PowerRack systems at the factory. It is no longer limited to making a rack ready for a partner's loop. The PowerCool range has cold plates, rack pipes, rack-mount coolant distribution units, closed rear-door coolers, monitoring, and both Dell and third-party parts.
Dell can set up and test servers, graphics chips, networks, power, rack hardware, cooling, and controls as one system. It can then support the full rack. Current Dell pages list a rack unit up to 160 kilowatts and a newer 4U C7000 above 220 kilowatts.
Those are Dell ratings for set test conditions. They do not prove that every PowerEdge server or old building can use them. The linked Lonestar6 site is a different case.
It puts Dell servers in GRC immersion tanks, so it proves work with a partner rather than PowerCool results. Buyers should keep those paths separate. Check support for each server and chip, heat caught by cold plates, heat left in air, building-water temperature and quality, pipe and plug standards, spare pumps and power, leak alarms, control access, rack service, and the owner of each warranty.
Also ask whether the quoted hardware is on sale now. Dell and its partners report the sizes, savings, and site facts. Public sources do not give third-party yearly power use, fleet uptime, or contract terms.
