What is the Daikin Coolant Distribution Unit?
Daikin sells this coolant distribution unit in three sizes: 400 kW, 1,000 kW and 2,000 kW. Several units grouped on one skid are stated to exceed 10 megawatts, which is how a hall grows without replacing what it already owns. The headline thermal figure is the approach: Daikin states an approach temperature difference down to 2 kelvin, so the coolant reaching the servers sits close to facility water and the plant can be asked for warmer water. Pumping uses a high-efficiency IE5 motor. Filtration on the technology loop goes down to 25 micron in stainless steel, and options include fully stainless pumps, AISI 316 brazed plate heat exchangers and an automatic transfer switch. Pumps are redundant, components are hot-swappable, and service access is front and rear only, which suits a unit placed in a row or a technical corridor rather than a plant room. Daikin does not publish the flow rate at any of the three sizes, the pressure drop, the electrical load, or the facility-water temperature the ratings assume. Without the flow, the kilowatt figures cannot be compared with a rival's. Ask for a selection at the site's own water temperature, the hydraulic curve, and the capacity with one pump out of service. Daikin Applied also acquired Chilldyne in November 2025, so the group now sells both positive and negative pressure designs.
